Who is going to stop him, we have the biggest most capable military in the world.tacnet wrote: ↑August 19th, 2026, 2:41 pmEverybody knows he can't make it a US territory, not without invading Iran ! He would need thousands of troops along that coast just to hold it and tens of thousands more to suppress the inevitable insurgence attacks. The whole thing would be a blood bath, worse than Iraq

And how many American lives would be lost in the process ? You can't hold a territory by bombing alone, you need boots on the ground and a LOT of them because lets face it, they can fire drones off from literally anywhere in the country and hit ships in that strait.viking wrote: ↑August 20th, 2026, 11:02 amWho is going to stop him, we have the biggest most capable military in the world.tacnet wrote: ↑August 19th, 2026, 2:41 pmEverybody knows he can't make it a US territory, not without invading Iran ! It would be just like Russia in Ukraine where Putin wants to declare the Donbass Russian territory. He has the 2nd " biggest and most capable " military in the world yet here we are, over 4 years in and Russia has suffered 1.4 million casualties and around 450,000 deaths
I doubt the American people would put up those kind of losses for a war that most believe we shouldn't have started in the first place

757 wounded 18 dead so far for what, a useless fucking war we did not have to start.
" The number of US service members wounded since the start of the Iran war has passed 750, according to the Defense Department’s war casualty database.
The Pentagon updated the database on Wednesday, recording more than 50 additional wounded soldiers, as talks between Tehran and DC to end the conflict remain at an impasse.
When totals in The Defense Casualty Analysis System for “Overseas Operations” are combined with totals for Operation Epic Fury, 18 service members have died and 757 have been wounded since the US launched the war against Iran on February 28. "

Iran is now offering a bounty equivalent to $30,000 for killing or capturing US soldiers, with the reward doubled to $60,000 if carried out by a woman. That's a huge sum of money in a country where the average wage is only around $200 a month. Furthermore, the weapon used in the killing will be purchased by the Army at twice its market value and permanently displayed in a dedicated museum.
God help any US pilots shot down over Iran right now or any troops/special forces Trump has to send in to claim his "US Territory".. Each and every one of them is now worth over 12 years salary to the average Iranian.....dead or alive !

Not a smart idea, if more US military personnel get killed the pressure on Trump to do something big like a nuke will mount. Just sit down hash out an agreement all parties can live with, not necessarily would want in an ideal world and get on with life. In the end it will take some type of negotiated agreement do it now.tacnet wrote: ↑August 21st, 2026, 11:05 pmIran is now offering a bounty equivalent to $30,000 for killing or capturing US soldiers, with the reward doubled to $60,000 if carried out by a woman. It's Trumps "Economic D-Day" of massive sanctions today, are they going to go into affect or will he back off them.

The way I see it is the US passes sanctions, if they fail to get the desired result they ultimately go to war. This move goes to show exactly what you said boss. You really think China who buys 90% of Iran's oil at a discount is going to give a shit. Iran has been selling their oil in Chinese Yuan for a while, they're both BRICS countries as you know. Guess what BRICS would love to see the collapse of the petro-dollar and this latest move is only a gift to China.
One more thing, what happens when Iran does not fold and hold up the white flag after these sanctions, does Trump go back to bombing them again, give me a break that is so not going to happen.

What is a shame is ordinary people suffer from wars and sanctions, the leaders in every country live well.

Yep totally agree. This has got to be the dumbest move ever and I can't wait to see how he's going to get out of it. Nobody seriously believes he is going to sanction countries like China, Pakistan, India and even his old buddy Putin who all do business with IranTheButcher wrote: ↑August 24th, 2026, 4:41 pm

I think one of two things will happen. Either Trump will announce that he is delaying the tariffs because they are close to a peace deal (which he has done over and over again) OR he will start announcing exemptions from the sanctions and will probably end up just sanctioning someone like Iraq and that'll be it. Either way, Iran will not give in and the strait of Hormuz will remain closed and, as you say, then where do we go ??
I do wonder if this sudden trade war with Canada and renaming lake Ontario is supposed to be distracting us from all this ??

Well China buys a lot of oil form Iran if he does not sanction them the whole exercise of secondary sanctions will be a waste of effort.tacnet wrote: ↑August 28th, 2026, 1:02 amYep totally agree. If there is one silver lining in this whole mess, its that China reduced its oil imports by 30% (around 3.5 million barrels a day) in the 2nd quarter of 2026 largely thanks to their huge stockpiles and the adoption of renewable energy across the country
Had they not done so, then we would be looking oil prices of around $130 to $150 a barrel !!
