It make me laugh, he wants to close the strait which is what he accused Iranians of doing.

I wonder if he thinks he'll get one for ending this catastrophe which by the way might lead to a global recession and even hunger due to the lack of fertilizers and agricultural products not going to the countries that need to plant crops.

The block of the Hormuz strait is on as of this morning, how long before he does a 180 opens it up.TheButcher wrote: ↑April 12th, 2026, 2:41 pm"Where things stand
• Blockade in the strait: President Donald Trump said the US Navy will start blocking passage through the Strait of Hormuz, risking an even greater spike to oil and gas prices as he seeks to maximize leverage over Tehran. Iran has vowed to retaliate against military vessels that enter the strait, as the US sweeps for mines in the strategic channel.
• Talks stall: Trump predicted Iran will return to peace talks, after negotiators failed to reach a long-term deal this weekend. Key sticking points involved Tehran’s nuclear program and remaining facilities, funding for Iranian proxy groups, and fully opening the strait, a White House official told CNN.
• Renewed threats: The US president repeated his vow to take further military action in the absence of a deal, claiming he “could take out Iran in one day” and listing water desalination plants and bridges among potential targets."

So he was saying Iran has to make the Strait of Hormuz open and free for all maritime traffic, now he's going to close it. wait until the markets open tomorrow the price of oil will go above $100/barrel and stocks will take a dive. This is absolutely unreal.
We're back to taking out the country, only way I see him accomplishing that is by deploying nukes. 92-93 million people in a country 4 times the size of Iraq there is no other way. Not to mention he is broadcasting again his intent to commit international law violations and genocide, nice going (NOT).

"At least four Iran-linked ships - including two that visited Iranian ports - crossed the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday following the start of a blockade by the US. At least three others also crossed the key shipping channel
China's foreign ministry condemns the blockade of Iranian ports as "dangerous and irresponsible"

The blockade seems to be in theory and not practice, which is good otherwise China will get involved in this war if one of their ships is boarded or blown up.

Apparently the big shipping companies (Maersk etc) are still refusing to risk going through the straits despite Trump saying its open
Incidents like this are enough to keep it closed :-
"Two Iranian gunboats opened fire on a tanker in the strait, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.
A container ship was also hit by "an unknown projectile" off the north-eastern coast of Oman, damaging some containers, according to the UKMTO.
Separately, at least two merchant vessels said they were hit by gunfire as they attempted to cross the strait, sources told news agency Reuters."

The ceasefire expires Tuesday i think, so far it's held up, best thing that can happen form now until then is for the negotiators to extend it and work out a deal.

Even if this war ended tomorrow, there is still the problem that Iran has realized it has huge leverage over the global economy and the world will NOT be able to tolerate that. Countries will not want to rely on the straits of Hormuz for their oil as this could all happen again.
20 million barrels a day go through the straits of Hormuz and the Saudi pipeline can only handle 5 - 7 million barrels a day. The only solution is to build more pipelines and that is going to take years
