'Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out - 48 hours before all Hell will reign (sic) down on them. Glory be to GOD!', the president wrote on his Truth Social website Saturday morning.

His post should have used the other spelling of 'rain', as tensions mount over the shipping channel that is vital to the global oil trade."

It should be clear by now that Iran is NOT going to back down to threats and bombing the hell out of them hasn't worked either. The only thing Trump can do to escalate is to put boots on the ground and the American people won't support that. He can't simply declare victory and walk away either. Not with the regime still in place and the straits closed, it would be political suicide.

Trump has backed himself into a corner. The longer this war goes on, the higher the oil prices go and the more pressure Trump is under to end it. He won't go nuclear as there is simply no upside to that.

So I guess the question is, who is more desperate to end this war ?? Iran or Trump ?

Short of nuking them he might bomb their electricity generation and desalination plants causing a humanitarian catastrophe and mass deaths. That is a war crime and not what America or any civilized country should resort to. Killing millions of people is not right, there are rules of engagement even in war. But he has cornered himself into a no win situation and he is one person who can not de-escalate because of his hyper inflated ego.

Yep that is the worry. Hopefully this will be like he was with tariffs, Greenland, China etc where he makes lots of threats but then backs down at the last minute. Trouble is, I don't see how he can claim victory whilst the straits are still closed ??? Iran doesn't have to win this war, they just have to NOT loose and if they survive, they will see that as a victory.

And I don't believe for one minute that there are negotiations going on. Trump said they gave him 10 ships but couldn't give any details of which ships or where they were sailing to ??
