The kicking the bucket wasn't out of the blue. I didn't really expect to be around past 60. The referral to the transplant team for assessment for a double lung transplant did come as a surprise. Was totally unexpected. I pretty much had made my peace with it all coming to an end soon. So now I guess there's some hope and I'll see how the eval goes and if I make the list. My doc thinks I'm a good candidate since I'm still young enough and have no other defects. I quit smoking last September, so I'm good on that. I will have to retire my vapes (starting Monday I think). That will suck.

Is vaping not ok then ? I did like you and switched from smoking to vaping a few years back. Ive always got a vape in my hand

You hang in there girl. My friend felt exactly the same before her transplant and if your anything like her then you got decades left in you.

Vaping is harm reduction. It's the one thing that has finally gotten me off the cigarettes. However, being off the vape and completely off the nicotine will probably go a long way when it comes to actually getting a set of lungs. If I wasn't going under the microscope.for approval, I wouldn't give vaping a 2nd thought. Soooo... come Monday I'll probably be more grumpy than usual.

I seen the lung doc today. He thinks I'm a good candidate for transplant surgery and he's putting in a referral to the transplant team for me. Since you'll have to be within 2-3 years of kicking the bucket to rate a referral, I guess my days a numbered. Not really news to me, I kind of suspected that for some time now. But fuck... it's depressing when someone else rubs it in your face.

Not to say what I felt or had is comparable but when it happened to me it was a big deal. I was minding my own business working out at the gym in April I felt weak. When my session was over I went home took a shower felt weird. I had an appointment at the doctors office that afternoon for a sinus infection. He took my blood pressure and said I think you need to go to the hospital. I was like no way with the covid19 cases I am not going for a sinus infection. He said I think you are having a heart attack.

I drove there myself, 4 hours later I was getting an angioplasty and they put what is called a stent. It is to keep the blood vessel open.
I was home next morning.


I know this is not even close to a double lung transplant but it was a big deal for me when I heard I was having a heart attack. You will be better off with it than living with the way you are feeling now. I honestly believe this and wish you only good things to come.

No, not cheap. When I googled it, it comes in just under 1 million for a double lung transplant. Luckily the veterans administration covers all my health care.

Think of it as taking your car in for a new muffler, that is what surgery has become. The doctors are the mechanics we are the cars. It is all common and routine for doctors.

You are going to go for the tune up and live a long life after.
