phpBB calls threads topics and mods extensions, when I switched from VB to phpBB I used the support forum a lot, and every time I said thread or mod they told me to use topic and extension. Anyways that said, here are all the official mods aka extensions available for the latest 3.3Xbuild of the script, I can not find one.

This is the 2nd extension I have uploaded tonight and neither one shows up in the control panel, not sure if it is because I updated the forum yesterday to the latest version of the script or what. Extensions need to be updated hen phpBB releases newer versions of the forum script, let me try any other 3.3x compatible extension see what happens.

Have you tried logging in on incognito browser or deleting all browser history?TheButcher wrote: ↑July 10th, 2021, 10:20 pmHmm I just uploaded an extension that is built for the current 3.3x version and it does not show up either, going to go over to phpbb ask.
I never used phpbb but that's usually what I do when I don't see changes that should be visible

Without that functionality, you really are battling with one arm tied behind your back.
Most sites now use htaccess mod_rewrite to re-write their urls in an seo friendly way. With a quick look at your structure, yours could be done with a couple of lines of code. something like this :-
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^adult-business-chat/([0-9]+)-([^/]+).htm$ /forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=$1 [NC,L]
So that will re-write any url beginning with adult-business-chat/ followed by any number then a dash and any text to /forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=number
eg https://www.sponsorchat.com/adult-business-chat/5623-why-is-this-forum-hidden.htm re-writes to /forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=5623
or
https://www.sponsorchat.com/adult-business-chat/1234-i-can-put-any-text-in-here.htm re-writes to /forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=1234

viewtopic.php?f=74&t=5624tacnet wrote: ↑July 10th, 2021, 7:07 pmYour missing the point.
Im not critisizing thebutchers webmaster skills, i think hes actually done a good job with this site
Im saying that before, when the index page was the forum index page (ie this ), that meant that all your topic links were only 2 clicks away from the index (one click to select the forum and one click to the topic). This would put them resonably high in your google page ranks. Pages linked from your index would rank highest and the deeper you go, the lower importance google attaches to each page
By moving the forum 2 or 3 clicks further in, you have immediately demoted all those topic links as far as google is concerned. And the topics are where all your keywords will get posted
All I am saying is that from a purely SEO standpoint, it isnt doing this site any favours and is likely to have a negative impact
VAT is British Value Added Tax. Companies over a certain size in the UK have to register for it and pay 20% tax
Then when your company is about to reach a certain size, the company should be divided into two companies and keep that 205.
FYI, the page rank is not as important as you would think. I get orphaned pages to rank all the time.
and like I said, the link to the forum IS ON THE FRONT PAGE, you just did not click that one.
so your argument is mute!

I think what you did is perfect, let it run and watch the stats.TheButcher wrote: ↑July 10th, 2021, 8:00 pmHere is the logic in the index maybe not the right decision but giving it a shot.
1. To make the initial page a sort of hub for my remaining sites.
2. Redirecting all my unused domains to the root of sponsorchat, that way splitting off the visitors by hopefully what they want, I have a lot of domains that were for example cams, sex stores, dating, directories, toplists, blogs....that I see no point in keeping any more, but let's say a surfer comes from one of the cam sites now redirected to sponsorchat.com looking for cams can now just click on the cam sites listed there.
3. split off surfers and webmasters, if all the domains went to sponsorchat.com and that was the forum the surfer traffic would be wasted and any who did register to the forum would not make any contribution to the business chat.
It's just an idea but running sites not making a buck a month is just a waste of time, less sites means more time to work on the active ones and hopefully make the same or more money.
That's it to be honest.
note:the forum link over the sponsorchat link is confusing people.
they seem to be clicking forum and NOT sponsorchat forum, thus all the comments on so many clicks.

This makes sense. one page for each redirect category.HeidiHoe wrote: ↑July 10th, 2021, 8:29 pmWhy not create a landing page (or several) for your redirected traffic on the SC domain instead?TheButcher wrote: ↑July 10th, 2021, 8:00 pmHere is the logic in the index maybe not the right decision but giving it a shot.

you only have one forum, so make forum go to the same link ans sponsorchat form and most of this conversation will be over.

agreed!tacnet wrote: ↑July 10th, 2021, 9:00 pmYep I see what you are trying to achieve and youve got the right idea. Putting all your eggs in one basket can be a good thing when it comes to SEO. We do the same on https://www.tacamateurs.com/ where all the girls are part of the one domain rather than trying to manage 300 different domain names
But your better off creating a seperate landing page for your re-directed traffic. You could make it a subdomain eg sites.sponsorchat.com.
Your topics are where people are talking about whats going on in the world so they are likely to be keyword rich and relevant to what people are searching. Its best to keep these links as near to the index as possible so google will rank them higher
Im not sure what software you are using but if you can, you should also implement SEO links as this will make a HUGE difference to how google reads your site. So instead of the link to this topic being viewtopic.php?f=74&t=5623 (little or no google rank) it would be something like 5623-why-is-this-forum-hidden-away.htm (much more google friendly)
Keywords in urls are ranked highest of all and its very easy to do. Just a couple of lines of code in your htaccess file

I used to do this to rewrite urls for a json feed cam site that wasn't on wordpress. Worked like a charm. I'm not familiar with phpbb but I've noticed that when using rewrites (might have been within wordpress) it can make a difference where you place it within your .htaccess if there's other code within the file. If it does not work try moving it up or down.tacnet wrote: ↑July 10th, 2021, 11:32 pmWithout that functionality, you really are battling with one arm tied behind your back.

it depends on the click rate and bounce rate.
