I read some politicians are not happy he did it by EO, well he did the right thing, why waste weeks and months when people out there are in financial hardship. Any of these politicians who oppose it are crazy, how can you not be for helping Americans in distress. One more great move by the President.

tRUmp didn't do shit. It's an election ploy. Power of the purse belongs to Congress, not the executive branch.TheButcher wrote: ↑August 9th, 2020, 12:50 pm

Besides that...
He promised $400 per week PROVIDING the states cough up 25% of that. Which states can afford that right now? States have a reduced flow of income and extraordinary expenses due to covid-19. They are required to have a balanced budget (unlike municipalities and federal) and some may soon be forced to do layoffs unless they receive some federal relief themselves.
Also...
States don't have the technical infrastructure in place. One of the reasons we had a dollar figure instead of percentage of income before was because states couldn't handle it. A lot of them run on antiquated systems that should be displayed in museums. What makes you think that's changed in the last 3 months? They can barely handle (not handle) regular state unemployment benefits which will come to an end real soon. Most states have 26 weeks, a hand full 12 weeks of UI.
On the payroll tax...
Doesn't do shit for you unless you work. All it does is defer payment and come spring you get the bill to pay up. If he's reelected he said he'll consider forgiving the tax due and making it permanent. FICA is what funds Social Security and Medicare. Is that were we should deplete funds? And again, he does not have power of purse, it belongs to Congress.
On tuition deference...
Didn't do shit, secretary of education had this power all along.
On rent...
Again, nothing. He basically signed a memo to have people look at what can be done and whatever that is will only affect federally backed mortgage properties, so the majority of people are fucked.
All he did was a election campaign ploy at his country club setting of all places on the taxpayer's dime. He signed an executive order that flies in the face of the constitution and what amounts to 3 memos. Oh... let's not forget promising to rob from Social Security if only we reelect him. What a fucking POS...
