So what are the main advantages of using ORM over SQL
So you are still accessing data from a relational database when you use ORM, so you could be using MySQL, MsSQL, PostgreSQL, Aurora, or any other popular relational database, but when it comes time to access the data you use ORM in your code instead of using structured query language in your code.

From a performance standpoint I don't think you will see a huge bump, but from a productivity and workflow standpoint you will see a big difference because you have to write less code.

Ultimately its just another tool to make development workflow better. But its up to the developer and how comfortable the developer is with a technology.

A bit off topic but: Personally I feel as developers and engineers we should never take the "if it aint broke dont fix it" mentality, if we had that mentality we would never innovate or take our software to the next level. ORM is just one of many tools, look into doing things out of your normal workflow and see if it helps you, if they dont then at worse you learned a new skill.

Yea SQL is awesome! How did you come to this conclusion? Did ORM not workout for your workflow? Lately I have been using less ORM and more SQL syntax in code. Most of the queries I wrote for my Kinky Offers are either straight sql or sql accessed via stored procedures.

I still think ORM is a huge time saver once you get used to it, but Im just so used to writing SQL syntax and so comfortable with it that I find it sometimes faster to just go with sql syntax. I may switch to ORM completely one day due to its shorter syntax but for now I am mostly writing sql syntax on current projects.
