I watched president Trump speak at Davos just now and he claims he will not use force, for all that is worth.

What was the outcome yesterday, did Greenland accept to be part of our country or what?

Trump and Rutte reached some decision or deal where we get whatever bases we want on Greenland and those areas become sovereign US territory, only part confusing me is when did Rutte get to give away Greenland. When Greenland and Denmark said they do not agree with this.

Trump got EXACTLY what he already had from the 1951 agreement with Greenland which gave him permission to build as many bases as he wants in Greenland. In other words, Trump got nothing and backed down when he saw that Europe was prepared to fight a trade war over Greenland and that nearly 80% of Americans were AGAINST him taking over Greenland.Cars-n-Chicks wrote: ↑January 23rd, 2026, 9:39 pmTrump and Rutte reached some decision or deal where we get whatever bases we want on Greenland and those areas become sovereign US territory, only part confusing me is when did Rutte get to give away Greenland. What Trump has done is to drive his allies straight into the arms of his enemies. The EU, Canada and the UK have all signed huge trade deals with China (hence why China just announced a massive $1.2 Trillion trade surplus last year) and none of them agreed to be part of his so called "Board Of Peace"
But what really pissed us off was Trump's comments about NATO in Afghanistan saying that we "stayed away from the front lines". EVERY NATO country fought alongside the US in that war including Denmark. Here in the UK, we lost 450 soldiers and to hear the President of the United Stated ridicule those losses is disgusting to every British person who heard it.

He is not the first president who has investigated taking over Greenland, it's been a decades long plan, whether it happens this time who knows but it will become reality one day.

Okay he did say this on Saturday about the UK troops.
"
Washington, DC, and London —
US President Donald Trump praised British troops Saturday after sustained outrage over comments he made this week downplaying the sacrifices of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
“The GREAT and very BRAVE soldiers of the United Kingdom will always be with the United States of America!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“In Afghanistan, 457 died, many were badly injured, and they were among the greatest of all warriors,” he continued. “It’s a bond too strong to ever be broken. The U.K. Military, with tremendous Heart and Soul, is second to none (except for the U.S.A.!). We love you all, and always will!”
The message came after furious reaction to comments the president made minimizing the role NATO forces played in Afghanistan. The president’s remarks rankled US allies in NATO, coming at the end of a week in which he severely strained the alliance through his threats to seize control of Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, another NATO member. Trump realized we already have agreements with them to put bases and what not. So he moved on to other places he wants to take over.
