Designers and programmers have always been the weak link in this industry for me. They never do a job for the price they quote in time they promised.

I get the frustration, but coders and designers ain’t the only weak link.

You got trade guys shaving traffic, aff programs not paying out or only counting half the joins, ad networks showing 1/3 of the real clicks because the shave is baked into their backend.

And let’s not forget payment processors. Some of them straight up held or stole money, and it happened more than once in this biz. Guys worked, sent traffic, made sales, then the payment side suddenly froze funds, delayed payouts, or disappeared with the money.

Every part of this biz has its own bs. Some devs miss deadlines, sure. But networks, affs, advertisers, traders, clients and payment processors can be just as shady.

The whole chain has trust issues, not just coders and designers.

About devs, there’s a simple way to filter out a lot of bs.

Daily commits, daily checks. Make them push code every day, then run it through AI or have someone review what was actually done. You’ll spot the talkers real fast. Guys who only send excuses and screenshots usually disappear when they have to show real code every day.

Same with upfronts. It all depends on rep. If you’re known in the biz and the dev has no name, don’t pay upfront. Use milestones or pay after visible progress. But if the dev has the rep and you’re the unknown one, don’t expect him to work without some kind of guarantee.
