Military Spending Comparison (2023)

Country Military Spending (billion USD) % of U.S. Spending U.S. Spending Multiple

United States 877 100% 1.0
China 292 33.3% 3.0
Russia 86 9.8% 10.2
India 81 9.2% 10.8
Saudi Arabia 75 8.5% 11.7
United Kingdom 68 7.8% 12.9
Germany 56 6.4% 15.7
France 54 6.2% 16.2
South Korea 46 5.2% 19.1
Australia 32 3.6% 27.4
Canada 27 3.1% 32.5
Global Total 2,240

Source: Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), 2023 data.
Globally, the U.S. accounts for about 39.2% of the total military expenditure of $2,240 billion.

The U.S. spends $877 billion, which exceeds the combined spending of the next ten countries listed ($817 billion)

Who do you think is currently paying for all this military?
How much more does that make our products cost?
How much more does that mean Americans pay in taxes?
Why should American pay all this to keep others safe and so they can tax/tariff America in much higher amounts than America does them?

How do you think America became competent enough to do this?
Certainly it was not by doing what Bidden did the last 4 years.
Certainly it was not what Obama did his 8 years.
Let's not even discuss the Bush years. Either of them.
Clint success was actually from Reagan's success and the evolution of the Internet in the 90s.
What does tariffs have to do with military spending, they are being put on countries by Trump to level out the tariffs they supposedly have on our goods.

I'll stick my neck out he will delay it. It seems to be a pattern with previous sanctions.

"Trump threatens 50% tariffs on Brazil if it doesn’t stop the Bolsonaro ‘witch hunt’ trial "

So now Trump is threatening Brazil with a 50% tariff if they don't stop a potential trial against their former right wing President, Bolsonaro for trying to overturn an election that he lost. Essentially it was Brazil's equivalent to Jan 6th. And worse still, the US hasn't run a trade deficit with Brazil since 2007. In fact, last year the US had a $6.8 billion trade surplus with Brazil. In other words, this has NOTHING to do with trade. This is simply Trump trying to use tariffs to interfere with another country's domestic policies. Get ready America, your going to be paying 50% more on things like coffee just to help out Trump's buddy !!!

That's why tariffs are supposed to be decided by congress and not Trump.

Duh the tariffs are paid by the importers so they pass on the cost to consumers.

Tariffs costing GM money, big money. loys of money.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/22/business/gm-tariff-hit

"CNN —

Tariffs on imported cars and auto parts cost General Motors $1.1 billion in the second quarter, the nation’s largest automaker said Tuesday.

That hit to its bottom line was largely responsible for a 21% drop in net income for the period. The company said it expects tariffs to cost it between $4 billion to $5 billion by year’s end.

The auto industry has been greatly disrupted by President Donald Trump’s tariffs – more than most businesses – as the taxes on imported cars and auto parts went into effect long before most other tariffs. "

Tariffs are a tool.

the psychology, strategies, etc behind the use of tariffs is too much for the average person to comprehend.

All we should do is wait and watch and see what happens.

At least here, the benefits out weigh the cost that does make it to us.

Other countries are costing America billion a day, it is about time, they all paid attention to what the impact is and adjust their tariffs.
America had some of the lowest tariffs in the world until recently.

All that assuming the countries he tariffs end up paying for them not us buying their goods, do you agree?
