We are going back to the moon as of today

50 plus years later with all the knowledge and computers that ever existed in the days of Apollo the lander went on it's side

But we landed 6 times on the moon and came back.

Same thing happened with the Japanese lander the other week

Its because its all automated. There's no human on board to adjust the trajectory and you cant send signals from the earth to steer it (by the time the signals got there and back it would have crashed)

This is like trying to drive a self driving car, 250 million miles away from earth over unknown terrain whilst avoiding any boulders or hills

Half century ago we could land humans on there and bring them back now we and other countries can not land a non-manned craft there. You think there is a problem?

We've been driving cars for the last 100 years but we still haven't developed a completely driverless car

Its the same with spacecraft. Having a human on board (or at least in control via a satellite link like we do with drones) is actually a lot easier to do.

What we are trying to do here is to build a machine that can fly quarter of a million miles to an unknown location covered in boulders and mountains and then decide for itself where a safe place to land is. All that without any human input at all. We would struggle to that here on earth let alone on the moon where its only 1/6th earths gravity

The Apollo mission that had all those problems supposedly had a small nuke on it. Thus the aliens would not allow them near the moon.

The shuttle that exploded in 86? Supposed had a nuke on it and was shot down with a targeted laser strike.

This is the real reason there are no weapons in space. The aliens will not allow it.
