The Pope says Cathoilcs can not become Freemasons,I did not know this.

"Vatican reaffirms 'grave sin' of Freemasonry, says Catholics cannot join the world's largest secret society
Freemasonry has been prohibited for Catholics since 1738, when Pope Clement XII called the secret society 'depraved and perverted'"

When was the last time you read a Mason had abused some one, not seen anything myself, when was the last time you read a priest has abused another individual.

People are not into religion as much as before the best bet for churches is to embrace more ideas that make sense today. So what if a church person is a Mason what does that matter.
