Make it a small image not 500Kb try it hon, but they are right you do not want to make the page load slower.

Yes we use them all the time, both seamless patterns and full size fixed images. We also use them on layered background divs

eg https://www.tacamateurs.com/melody/ (if your screen is wider than 1440px then you'll see 2 red tinted background images of the girl left and right. If not, you'll see a seamless background tile image)

As others have said, the trick is to keep them small (we try to stay around 200k max). Also where possible use media queries in your css to only apply the background if its going to be visible (eg if its on a mobile phone then it might not be visible anyway so dont bother loading it).

A small repeating image can give you some lovely texture. Using a semi-transparent png over whatever color that matches your design wouldn't add more than a few kb.

ok here's a question. Why is green never a color used in porn ?

We do a different color scheme and graphics for each of our girls. That means we've done over 350 different colors pallettes, blacks, blues, reds, purples but I never see a green porn site
