why does ICQ do so many updates

I have a few guys on ICQ I trade links with, so i turn it on once or twice a week, it seems every week or 2 they go thru some update on firing it up. What are they updating so often, my SKYPE never says do you ant to do the latest update.

Updates are for many reasons, security, newer features..... hey it's free, takes no work form you, best stay with the current version of any software.

Skype the only IM I use now, when I need it. It stays turned off most of the time.

Icq was on so many sponsor and trade sign-up pages 10 years ago, it was next to impossible to be in business without it.
