FDA approves oral diabetes drug from Novo Nordisk

#1

Post by BrasSmonkey » September 21st, 2019, 3:43 am

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved an oral version of Novo Nordisk's diabetes drug semaglutide, a boost for the Danish drugmaker which hopes to transform the market by offering patients a non-injectable treatment.

The world's biggest producer of diabetes drugs already sells an injectable once-weekly version of semaglutide under the brand name Ozempic at nearly $800 per month.

The new oral treatment, called Rybelsus, stimulates insulin production in patients with type 2 diabetes and is meant to be taken once a day.

As with all drugs we have to wait for years to see what side effects and complications come up

It sounds promising for those with diabetes. Hope it works well. Diabetes is on the rise world wide not just at home.

If it saves or prolongs life then no drug costs too much

It's good news for all the sufferers of diabetes, I'm a type 2 so i know the feeling. Not taking pills since I am not a pill-a-holic but watching my diet and exercising, so far it's under control and I hope to keep it that way.

Caption can be:

More sales, more money and more profits for the world's biggest seller of diabetes medication.

Diabetes unlike cancer can be controlled and sufferers can live a very long life. But every new discovery and medication that helps the individual with the disease is welcome news.

Stop dwelling on the company making money, if there was no money to be made there would be no incentive to research and bring drugs t market. Without drugs that work people would be suffering and dying. I hear so much these days about drug companies making a lot of money, well they are on business to make money they are not a charity.

Money is a big motivation for people to get off their asses and work, find new things to sell.

My mother takes Glucophage twice a day for the longest time. I'll mention this to her.

Glucopahge is Metformin under the trade name, same difference. I was prescribed it but not a pill guy so i went for the eating, exercise, walking route and have my type 2 under control. Te only things I miss are beer, burgers, fries and pizza but you can not have everything your way in life when you are diabetic.
