Deleting files on sites to reduce bots and attacks

[greatpornlinks]

I delete a few files on my WP sites to reduce the possible files where bots hit and eat up processes on my server, namely ones which are PHP files. The biggest slow down due to bots are mysql hits form my experience.

For example I delete

wp-comments-post.php
Who wants comments

wp-signup.php
I am the only one posting on my blogs

What files do you get rid of on your sites if any?

Comments are good for getting people back to your blogs to see what others said.

I'm fine with no comments on my blogs

The problem with comments is 99% are spam posts

I'd leave Wordpress alone just update it as new updates crop up.

I always appreciated people leaving comments on my blogs the feedback gave me ideas what they wanted to see so I could add more posts to attract viewers.

Instead of deleting files get Cloudflare it's more effective and has a free version.

Not totally against your point of view, however since I do not want comments the comments files on my blogs get deleted as soon as I install Wordpress.
