It is easy to forget some of the deadly diseases with everything going on in the world, ALS is one disease that needs to get more public awareness. A 12 hour telethon this weekend raised over €1,78 million for a new home here.

"€1,782,136 was raised in a 12-hour telethon in aid of ALS Malta on Sunday, a record for the NGO.

The funds will go for Dar Bjorn Respite, a new home being built by ALS Malta.

ALS Malta was founded by Bjorn Formosa, himself a patient with ALS, a severe neurological condition, and his wife Maria.

The organisation runs two care homes for patients."
