a new toy hehe. not too long ago i remember running a prompt in claude opus and it'd burn through $30 in tokens, for a single prompt. now, for $200 max subscription you get pretty much unlimited usage(reasonable usage). claude code has full access to my local machines, servers, all accounts etc. it doesn't act unless i approve of course, and 80% of my time on the computer is spent in the terminal.

it's just a new version of the best large language model for programming. just like there is chatgpt models for everyday use there are claude(interestingly named after Claude Shannon) models that excel as programming assistant.

developed by Anthropic which was started by siblings that have left OpenAI to start their own AI company, then a bunch of other top talent left OpenAI to work in Anthropic. about six months ago they released claude code as a research preview - crazy idea at a time: programming in the terminal without using an actual IDE. i downloaded and installed the thing out of curiosity on the release day and was pleasantly surprised.
