why will foreign leaders risk going to the White House

In February Trump gave Ukraine president Zelensky a humiliating lesson in the White House and yesterday pulled what can only be described as an ambush on South African president Ramaphosa.

Telling off other leaders in private behind closed doors is one thing but treating them that way in public is not kosher.

Trump being Trump, my opinion is he can say what he wants to who he wants away from the cameras, in both cases I think it was not diplomatic or productive.

Especially as what Trump was saying was bullshit. The so called "White Genocide" has been debunked time and time again. Its a story that was started by a White Supremacist group in South Africa

No one says he is a wimp but that is not the point. You don't go to a funeral wearing red and singing, you show respect for the dead person and his mourners. When you have a foreign leader in the White House and the reporters are there you do no belittle him or embarrass him. have your say in private but show some respect for your office as president and also respect the other leader. Obviously the president of the United sates of Amewrica is the most powerful man in the world, act accordingly.

I have a few thought about what transpired yesterday.

1. South Africa is one of the 5 BRICS members. Trump has outright said he is not in favcour of BRICS countries or themn trying to start an alternative to the US Dollar for trade.

2. South Africa has some law where foreign businesses have to include a SA owner , and Elon Musk is trying to get his Starlink in South Africa, so this could have been an intimidation attempt to let Musk and his Starlink into the country.

3. South Africa started a case against Israel at the ICJ , and I am pretty sure Trump is not happy with that case or ruling.


Whatever the case it was not right to act that way in front of the cameras, and the same goes for his meeting with Zelensky in the WH a few months ago.
