Methane has more than 80 times the warming power of carbon dioxide over the first 20 years after it reaches the atmosphere. Even though CO2 has a longer-lasting effect, methane sets the pace for warming in the near term.

At least 25% of today’s global warming is driven by methane from human actions.

I saw an interesting documentary the other day with a possible solution to this problem. They can now "grow" steaks !!!!

They take a few stem cells from a cow and they can grow a steak from them. It doesn't hurt the cow so you only need one. Its not been approved for human consumption yet but they reckon they are about 5 or so years away from perfecting it

The other alternative (and this turns my stomach) is to get us to eat protein from insects like they do in the far east. They are already doing it for dog food but I just cant imagine biting into my burger and seeing a little wing sticking out
