Is this why some websites have a warning come up for cookies and then you close it another one for age verification?

Exactly. Bad enough having one popup but having two is just ridiculous especially when you think that each popup probably looses you around 30-40% of users

There is a simple way round this, and thats to use "Implied Consent" with an unobtrusive message displayed at the bottom of your page (like we use at https://www.tacamateurs.com)

As soon as they click anything, they have given you consent to use cookies. Nobody said it had to be a big in-your-face popup

You can find the javascript & css code at https://www.creare.co.uk/blog/js/js-eu- ... law-banner

If you want to pin it to the bottom of your page, just add the following css :-

Code: Select all

#cookie-law {
	 position: fixed;
    bottom: 0;
    left: 0;
    right: 0;
       z-index: 9999;
}

Tell when if they do, they say a lot of things about adult content online and it does not always happen.

Umm they need to spend more time fixing their economy than passing laws to give surfers a hard time.

To be fair, it wasnt actually the UK that brought this law in. Its a European law that we can now repeal since we left the EU

The stupid thing about it is NOBODY is policing it. There's no government body going round checking if you have a cookie consent popup. Complete waste of time

I have a question what happens to all the laws that the UK adopted while they were in the EU, are they now void?

Not void no but it means we can get rid of the ones we dont want.

Europe tried to get rid of the cookies thing but they couldn't agree it. The great weakness of the EU is that you cant get 27 countries to agree on ANY DAMNED THING !!!

We dont have to worry about that now :-)

Me and my girlfriend trying to decide what to eat gets hard, imagine 27 countries trying to pass laws.
